1. What are the costs of buying a property in Ibiza?

Here is a list of taxes and costs that will be involved in the buying process:

2. What do I need to prepare for buying a property?
You will need some required documents for signing before the notary these include:
(1) Personal ID card or passport
(2) NIE Number
(3) Spanish bank account
(4) Golden VISA
(5) Receipts for any payments already made
(6) Military permit (non-European buyers)

3. Do I need a lawyer to do legal checks?

We advise you to always use services of a lawyer to do legal checks, the due diligence. This makes the process for buying a property easier and more legitimate for you, which gives you more legal certainty. We recommend you to work with Laurens van den Bosch and Carlos Roig Ruiz.

4. What is the process of purchasing a property?

This process exists of three phases, which are the negotiation, private agreement & deposit, and the actual purchase. 5. What comes after the signing?

There are other public authority obligations to consider once the buyer obtains ownership of the property through the execution of the public deed before a notary, including paying taxes, recording the title deed in public records, notifying the public of the change of ownership of the property, etc. Please read our buying guide for a full description of the after signing process.

6. Can I renovate or build on my property without a license?

No, you will have to request a license in case you would like to renovate or build something on your property.
